Andrew Chopra’s graduate music composition recital has been scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM in New York University’s Black Box Theatre. The program will showcase film music as well as concert music. Please mark your calendars for this big event!

Happy Fifth Anniversary!!! - August 16, 2010

Today marks the fifth anniversary since the creation of this website, and much has happened over the years. Currently, Andrew Chopra is attending New York University for a Master of Music degree in Music Theory and Composition with Concentration in Scoring for Film and Multimedia. Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra Lockout Ended! - January 17, 2008

The lockout at the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra finally ended Wednesday, January 16, 2008 after being in effect for 65 days. The Jacksonville Symphony Association and Jacksonville Symphony Players’ Association finally reached an agreement that provides for a five-year contract. Effective immediately, the musicians’ employment was reinstated and the concert season will resume. For more information, please visit their websites at www.jaxsymphony.org and www.jsomusicians.org. Congratulations to both sides on finally reaching an agreement! This has been a tough time for all involved, and it is great to finally have the musicians back on stage.

Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra Lockout - December 31, 2007

A lockout at the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra has been in effect since November 13, 2007 due to unresolved contract negotiations between the Jacksonville Symphony Association and the Musicians’ Union. Since then, many concerts have been cancelled and the orchestra musicians currently remain unemployed by the Association. Nevertheless, the musicians have still continued to provide music through several benefit concerts they have hosted. For more information or to read the various viewpoints on this situation, please visit the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra website (www.jaxsymphony.org) and the Jacksonville Symphony Players’ Association website (www.jsomusicians.org). These turn of events have been unfortunate for everyone concerned, and hopefully a resolution can be found soon.

*Concert Premier! - October 16, 2007

On Tuesday, October 16th, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. at the University of North Florida, Recital Hall, Alexei Romanenko and Sofia Every (Principal and Assistant Principal Cellist in the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, respectively) will be performing works by several composers in a concert titled “Music of Our Time”. In addition, these outstanding musicians will be premiering a composition by Andrew Chopra titled “Music for Two Cellos”. Please come out and support this event as it is sure to be an exciting concert!

Latest News - June 30, 2007

This year has been a busy one for Andrew Chopra. He held his senior music composition recital on April 28th and graduated from Jacksonville University on May 5th with a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition and Theory and a minor in Aviation Management and Flight Operations. In addition, he scored the orchestral arrangements for the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra to accompany the band “Glass Camels” in the concert “A Tribute to the Grateful Dead” on May 18th. Andrew’s latest project has been participating in a film scoring contest. Feel free to visit the music section to download the film and score. Also, more updates will be available soon, such as photos and audio recordings from Andrew’s recital as well as photos from the “Grateful Dead” concert. Finally, Andrew has decided to remain in Jacksonville, Florida for a year and reapply for graduate school for the following year. The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra with Glass Camels in “A Tribute to the Grateful Dead” - April 14, 2007

For the second time, Andrew Chopra has been working with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra on their Plugged In Series, this time with the band Glass Camels. In collaboration with the band, Andrew is arranging and orchestrating the featured pieces for the symphony to accompany the band on the concert “A Tribute to the Grateful Dead.” The concert was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 14 at 8:00 PM but has been rescheduled due to other events occurring in the Jacksonville area. It is rescheduled to occur on Friday, May 18th at 8:00 PM at the Times Union Center for Performing Arts, Jacoby Hall. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit the symphony’s website. Andrew Chopra’s Senior Music Composition Recital is now scheduled for Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 4:00 PM in Jacksonville University’s Terry Concert Hall. Note that the time is earlier than previously mentioned. Please mark your calendars for this big event!

Updates! - December 7, 2006

Several updates have been posted to the website, including a revised calendar and music file section. In addition, new photos have been added, including several from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra / Fusebox Funk concert that occurred on September 30, 2006. Currently, Andrew Chopra is continuing to write music for his upcoming senior music composition recital on April 28, 2007.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The time of Andrew’s recital is most likely to be changed to the late afternoon so as to avoid conflicts with other events of the day. Periodically check back for further news to be announced.

Andrew Chopra has been working with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and the band Fusebox Funk during the past month in preparation for their upcoming joint concert, which is part of the symphony’s Plugged-In Series. Collaborating with the band, Andrew has been arranging and orchestrating the featured pieces for the symphony to accompany the band. The concert will take place on Saturday, September 30th at 8:00 PM at the Times Union Center for Performing Arts, Jacoby Hall. Happy One-Year Anniversary!!! - August 16, 2006

Today marks the one-year anniversary since this website was begun! This past year has gone by quickly with many happenings, and there are sure to be many more to follow throughout the next year. In addition, the fall semester at Jacksonville University is about to start up, and Andrew Chopra is also staying busy with composing and planning for his senior composition recital as well as other projects. Summer Update! - June 24, 2006

Some more updates are finally here! Due to a busy semester in college for Andrew Chopra, updates for this website were temporarily postponed. Some new items include a couple additional audio files and a calendar update. In addition, the Jacksonville University concert schedule for the next year should be forthcoming soon, as well.

The past six months or so have been busy for Andrew. He has still continued to serve St. Mark’s Lutheran as Interim Organist/Ensemble Director. In early April, he presented at NCUR 2006 his two compositions, Dies Irae “The Day of Wrath” and Overture: The Frontier. They have also been sent in for publishing in the 2006 Proceedings. In addition, Andrew just recently returned from a month in the UK studying and taking two classes through Jacksonville University’s Study Abroad program. In addition to the wonderful sights, he was able to visit several cathedrals and hear some music.

During much of the remaining summer, Andrew will be working on writing music for his senior recital next year as well as for the Wind and Percussion Ensembles at Jacksonville University. He is also in the process of finalizing a senior recital date, hopefully to be sometime in April 2007. Stay posted for additional news in the future, and thanks again for visiting!

New Features! - October 22, 2005

The calendar, photo, and music sections are now finally up! It took longer than expected to get them running due to time constraints with everything that has been going on this time of year. The calendar section includes information on upcoming performances of the music of Andrew Chopra as well as general concerts and music events at Jacksonville University and other places of interest. If you would like to sign up via the email list, various news and notices of calendar dates will be sent periodically. Also, some photos have been posted on the website as well. In addition, the music section contains many compositions which may be downloaded for listening. The compositions are in various styles, and some are works in progress. Additional audio files will be added in the future as well. Furthermore, visitors will eventually be able to download several music scores in PDF format that supplement the audio tracks. Until they are incorporated within this website, some scores will be made available for download via a link to Andrew Chopra’s site with the Society of Composers, Inc. Thank you again for your interest!
